Reader Question: Does vinyl wallcoverings have sound absorption qualities?

One of our lovely readers has asked us an excellent question, so we have decided to share it and the answer with everyone:

Question: Does vinyl wallcoverings have sound absorption qualities?

Answer: Unfortunately the Lanark Wallcoverings have not been tested, so there are no current NRC ratings (Noise Reduction Coefficient) . However, a comparable product to ours has been tested and returns an NRC rating of .10 and so we would suggest that our product would yield a similar result.

This result is better than those of brick, concrete, glass, and steel.

Vinyl wallcovering on its own has limited sound-absorption properties.  However, when perforated and wrapped over an acoustical panel or baffle, it greatly improves the sound absorption properties.

We hope this information helps!
